Booking & the GoAhead
The essentials on reserving, paying and traveling with Sawa.
How you're protectedIt's the moment a departure becomes real. Every Sawa trip needs four travelers committed to the same date. When that number is reached, the date locks, the tour is confirmed, and we send you a secure payment link — and we mark it with a gold dot. From then on it runs: we don't cancel a confirmed date for low numbers.
Your trip still runs. Four travelers is what confirms a date, not a level it has to stay at — we don't cancel a confirmed departure for low numbers.
Only at GoAhead. Reserving a seat costs nothing. No card is charged and no hold is placed. Until then you can cancel with one click.
Yes. Every tour page has a "start your own date" option — pick the day that suits you and it becomes a departure other travelers can join. Our team gives each new date a quick review before it appears on the board, and as always, nothing is charged unless the group reaches its GoAhead.
The departure auto-cancels at its deadline and you pay nothing. No card is charged and no hold is placed, so there is nothing to release. We'll suggest similar dates that are closer to confirming.
Once a date is confirmed, our cancellation schedule applies — it's set out in section 13 of the Terms, and an operator's own schedule applies only where it was disclosed before you reserved. Before GoAhead there is nothing to refund, because nothing is charged: you can cancel free, any time.
Payments are processed by tab.Travel, a PCI-compliant payment gateway built for the travel industry, and Sawa never stores your full card details. Nothing is charged before your date is confirmed — the payment link is only sent once it reaches GoAhead.
An operator registered with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities and with ETAA — never a freelancer or an unregistered guide. Sawa coordinates the group and your payment; the operator delivers the experience.
A Sawa departure only runs as a real group with a local guide, so you're never setting out alone. Every operator holds a Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities license and insurance, you get the full itinerary up front, and WhatsApp, answered 24/7 throughout.
Absolutely. You can reserve multiple seats in one booking — and your travelers count toward the group's GoAhead, so bringing someone helps confirm the date faster.
It varies by tour, but each departure lists exactly what's included and excluded before you book — guiding, entries, accommodation and meals where applicable. Flights and visas are usually separate.
Nothing. Joining, listing departures and the widget are all free. Sawa only takes a commission on seats that are part of a confirmed, running departure.
Yes. You run the tour under your own name and deliver the experience. Sawa handles matching, payments and the GoAhead confirmation in the background.
Your travelers join the same date as travelers from other operators and from Sawa's open board. Once the combined group hits the minimum, the date confirms and you receive the full manifest.
After each GoAhead. Funds for confirmed travelers are paid out to your account on your plan's payout schedule, minus Sawa's commission.
Most operators are reviewed within 2–4 business days once we have your Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities license and proof of insurance.
